We beat Upenn by 8:1 and Rutgers, the host team, by 1:0 in the group games. In the quarter final, we faced up with NYWW, which is our long-time competitor and friend, i think, and they just beat us badly in a friendly game in Delaware. We managed to win by Li-Tong's beautiful goal in the regular time.
The quarter final game did not make us feel good, not only because officially we lost by forfeit, but also the tough behavior in the filed for the 20 minute play time. For some reason, the china-town team, which had some professional players and which we had never met before, played extremely tough. The game was interrupted twice before we udsoccer refused to play on. The organizer asked us to stay to wait for the third place game and we did. There was some discussion on the issue on the internet, including the professional dirty tricks.
Personally, I prefer keeping playing the game to the end. Although we were two points behind and the physical body touch made the game more difficult. I had a stomach ache then and stayed in my tent (it cost me over $500 to the hospital). I did not play a single minute in this game and I did not realize the situation until our players went out of the field. Technically, the china-town team played well and we noticed their slow but efficient organization.
The third place game was not played because the other team, Cornell Syracuse, did not have enough player. The organizer realized it and called off the game immediately. To be honest, the organizer did not do properly for the final standings. But, who cares.
In the tournament, Li-Tong finally made himself a star among the Chinese soccer society after so many years of playing. He made two very beautiful scores in two important games, one with Rutgers and another with NYWW. Both of the two games finished at 1:0. In the first game with Upenn, he also scored at the first charge of udsoccer within the first minute.
One thing worthing mention is that we invited Cai, Shan, a former professional player in Hebei, from Ohio to join us along with Wei, Ge. We learned a lot from him.
We are going to play two games with Hunters and DC next weekend. Although Li-Tong is injured, he will be there for the two games because they are for him.
